Join us on the 30th August for the EU-DualS project closing conference. The event, titled “A fast-track to better professional training” will take place at Residence Palace, Rue de la Loi 175, 1040 in Brussels from 09.00 to 13.30.

Through its three years of activity, EU-DualS explored the possibility of creating and implementing at European level a Dual System for Vocational Training based upon the lessons learned and the best practises of existing successful models, like the German one. Project partners will present the results of its work, exploring which Dual System model could be implemented in different European countries and why it would benefit student, companies and professional schools alike.

The findings of the project are based upon its three phases:

• the theoretical research on the compatibility of professional training regulation in Italy and Spain with the German Dual System, based upon the input of educational experts and teachers as well companies, who often have a need for skilled labour;
• the 1 year practical experimentation in 1 Italian and 2 Spanish professional training schools, emphazising the qualifying aspects of the Dual System and adding missing pieces where possible
• the one-month traineeship program in German companies set up for students of vocational schools in Italy and Spain. The experience was extremely rewarding for them, providing them with a real sense of what it is to be a professional, while companies appreciated their commitment and skills. Moreover, the conference will host keynote speeches from representatives of the European Institutions:  Mr. Norbert Schöbel, Team Leader for ‘Skills for the Young” at Unit E.3 – VET, Apprenticeships & Adult Learning at DG EMPL of the European Commission will present The European Alliance for Apprenticeship.

Mr. Michael Detjen – (Germany – SPD/S&D), Member of the EMPL Committee, will provide political statements about what is the best path for a European professional training scheme that provides SMEs with the highly skilled staff they need and what role the EU, Member States and educational institutions can play in setting up such training program.

The event will conclude with a networking lunch.
